Waterproofing

Proper drainage is essential to prevent structural damage due to moisture. We offer waterproofing solutions for new construction and existing structures to keep water from accumulating in interior spaces such as basements and crawl spaces as well as aiding in proper drainage of outdoor areas.

Waterproofing Case Study: Jody K Project – Lexington, Kentucky

Completed December 13 2022

We waterproofed a new construction basement with poured concrete walls. This project included all options we offer on new construction. Each of these methods can be selected individually by the customer and we will work with you to create the best plan for your project.

Outside:

  • Use our concrete mix to form a 45-degree cove with the existing poured concrete to barricade the seam so water can’t get to it.
  • Roll waterproof coating onto the exterior walls. The product can stretch with the wall up to a quarter inch if a crack were to form. (This cannot be applied on the inside where it is unsafe).
  • Install our 14-mil diamond threaded plastic sealer (flex sealer) over the treated areas.
  • Apply foam protection board to help protect from back fill.
  • Install a 4″ triple wall pipe around the perimeter to a discharge point.
(In this case, discharge is into the interior sump pump, but this is not typically the best option).
  • Back fill with at least 2′ of gravel
I recommend as much gravel as possible as this is lighter on the foundation walls than clay.

Inside:

  • Trench next to the footer and install our 4″ triple wall PVC pipe sloping it toward the sump pump.
  • On this job we used a 2′ deep sump basin installed with a Liberty 1/3 horse power submersible pump with lid.
  • The black drain board hung at the base of the wall is to keep the flex sealer from pinching the wall when the concrete floor is poured.
  • Flex sealer is hung floor to ceiling and ran into the trench.
  • The trench is rocked and piped and ready for concrete.
